What must be done in the material universe to achieve universal peace and happiness?
If all humanity applies God's teachings and fulfills the duties associated with developing God-consciousness, will it experience perfect happiness?
How can one achieve the realization of the true self, of one's true spiritual identity?
Yes, if each member of society dedicates themselves to their proper occupation while cultivating God-consciousness, universal peace and happiness will undoubtedly reign in this world of dense matter. Freed from the concerns of basic necessities, the entire world will then be transformed into a vast spiritual space, a spiritual abode, without needing to be transported to the kingdom of God.
If only all humanity would apply the teachings of Krishna, God, the Supreme Person, and fulfill the duties associated with developing Krishna-consciousness, or God-consciousness, it would experience perfect happiness.
The Lord says: Every person engages in various actions, whether or not they conform to the revealed scriptures. But know this: it suffices to use the fruits of such actions to worship Me in Krishna consciousness to be immediately blessed with a happiness that will continue in this life and the next, in this world and the next. There is no doubt about this.
As Lord Krishna says, actions performed in Krishna consciousness, or God consciousness, ensure that all who perform them have their desires fully satisfied.
Lord Krishna teaches: Using truthful language directed toward the good of all, avoiding hurtful words, and diligently reciting the Holy Scriptures—these are the austerities of speech.
Serenity, simplicity, seriousness, self-control, and purity of thought—these are the austerities of the mind.
Practiced with faith by men whose aim is not to obtain any material benefit for themselves, but to please the Supreme (God), the threefold union of these austerities proceeds from Virtue.
As for ostentatious penances, which seek the respect, honor, and veneration of men, they are said to belong to passion. They are merely unstable and ephemeral.
Finally, penances and austerities performed foolishly, and made up of obstinate tortures (of the body), or suffered with the intent to wound or destroy, are said to stem from ignorance.
Charity dictated by duty, done without expecting anything in return, under just conditions of time and place, and to those who are worthy of it, is said to be performed under the sign of Virtue.
