Those who eat forbidden foods become worms, thieves, and creatures that devour one another.

Those who court women of the lower social class become ghosts. He who has had dealings with degraded men, who has known another man's wife, or who has stolen something—but not gold—from a wise scholar, will become a spirit, a powerful phantom.

If a man has greedily stolen precious stones, pearls, coral, or jewelry of various kinds, he is reborn among the goldsmiths, or in the body of the bird called “hemakâra.”

Materialists who cling to their privileged positions until death, never wishing to leave the comforts of home, even in their dreams, remain prisoners of such illusions. They cannot help but devise countless plans to make their existence even more comfortable, but then death suddenly arrives, cruel and merciless. Whether they like it or not, they will be forced to abandon their bodies and assume another, which they will be compelled to accept. According to the deeds they performed in their present life, they will be forced to take on a body from among the 8,400,000 living species.

To envy or be jealous of Krishna, God, the Supreme Person, and the consequence of such an act is endless rebirth among demonic species and atheistic families. The pure knowledge inherent in every being remains perpetually veiled by illusion for such unbelievers, who can only gradually regress to the darkest recesses of creation.

Hell exists; it is a region composed of thousands of infernal planets.

Teachings of the Supreme Lord.

The Supreme Lord reveals to us what happens to a spiritual being at the moment of death: When their final hour arrives, they see the emissaries of the Lord of Death approaching them, their eyes filled with rage. Overcome by fear, they urinate and defecate. Just as a criminal is arrested by the authorities to serve their sentence, the person who has criminally indulged in sensual pleasure is seized by the Yamaduras (the servants of the Lord of Death and judge of sinners), who bind them by the neck with strong ropes and cover their ethereal body to inflict severe punishment.

In the material universe, there are three kinds of activity governed respectively by virtue, passion, and ignorance. This is true on every planet in every galaxy of the material cosmos. Since all beings are influenced by these three attributes of material nature, the fruits of their actions are also divided into three groups:

Those who act virtuously are pious and experience happiness.

Those who act under the influence of passion experience a mixture of happiness and suffering.

As for those who act under the influence of ignorance, they are always unhappy and live like animals.
