Let us offer sacrifices to Krishna, and the celestial beings will be pleased.

The celestial beings, Indra, Chandra, and Varuna, are specifically charged with managing the affairs of the galaxy, and the Vedas, the original holy scriptures, recommend offering sacrifices to them in order to please them, so that they will willingly provide the air, light, and water necessary to produce the food that humankind needs to live.

The innumerable beings endowed with powers to govern the affairs of the material galaxy are called “celestial beings.” They are responsible for providing air, light, water, and everything else necessary for the maintenance of living beings. All of them assist the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Their satisfaction and displeasure depend on the sacrifices made by men.

Among these sacrifices, some are intended to satisfy specific celestial beings, but here again, it is Visnu who remains the ultimate beneficiary. When they are perfectly performed, the celestial beings responsible for providing for man's various natural needs are automatically satisfied and provide him with what he needs.

Sacrifices also bring other benefits, the greatest of which is to free us from the shackles of matter. By performing these sacrifices, all our actions are purified.

The Vedas, the original holy scriptures also called “the true gospel,” state: By performing sacrifices, our food offered in sacrifice becomes sanctified, and when we eat sanctified food, our existence becomes purer. Under the influence of this purification, the subtle tissues of memory are sanctified, and when memory is sanctified, we can then embark on the path to liberation.

All these elements combined lead to Krishna consciousness or God consciousness, which alone offers an answer to the basic needs of today's society.

Satisfied by these sacrifices, the celestial beings do not fail to provide for all of humankind's needs. But whoever enjoys their gifts without offering them anything in return is a thief.

This is why Jesus said to this effect: The angels will come to you with the prophets, and they will give you what is yours. You too, give them what you hold in your hands, and say to yourself: when will they come to receive what is theirs?

The celestial beings are agents of Lord Krishna or Visnu, responsible for providing all living beings, human, animal, and plant, with what they need. We must therefore ingratiate ourselves with them by performing the sacrifices recommended in the holy scriptures.

The celestial beings are entrusted by Lord Krishna or Visnu to look after the interests and proper functioning of the material galaxy. This is the case for all galaxies.

Chanting the holy names of God is the easiest sacrifice to offer.

We must keep in mind that it is the celestial beings, agents of the Lord, who provide for the vital needs of living beings: human beings, terrestrial and aquatic animals, and plants. No one is able to create what they need.

The food of a person influenced by virtue—grains, fruits, vegetables, dairy products, sugar, etc.—or that of a person influenced by passion and ignorance—meat, fish, eggs, etc.—cannot be created by them, nor can heat, light, water, or air, which are so indispensable.
