The four preliminary steps that lead to the kingdom of God.
Four preliminary steps lead to the realization of God-consciousness: cultivating pure moral discipline, becoming non-violent, recognizing God's supremacy, and preserving life by not taking it from human beings, land and aquatic animals, or plants in their entirety.
Whoever passes through these four steps attains the state of awakening and draws closer to God.
It is impossible for anyone who sheds the blood of human beings—white, black, yellow, red, mixed-race—or of land and aquatic animals, or destroys plants, from blades of grass to trees, to enter the kingdom of God.
It is impossible for anyone who eats meat, fish, and eggs to approach Krishna, God, the Supreme Being.
What is the secret to entering the kingdom of God?
Blessed are those who know that Lord Krishna personally guides his pure devotee on the path to spiritual realization, because of their commitment to the loving and devoted service they offer him, and through the spontaneous affection they feel for God.
To love Krishna, God, the Supreme Person, to rejoice in pleasing him, making him happy, and doing his divine will, to renew the bond of love that unites us to him, to link our desires, plans, and interests to his, to surrender ourselves completely to him, and to take pleasure in serving him with love and devotion—this is the secret to entering the kingdom of God.
All those who currently live in Krishna's kingdom find immense joy in continually expressing their love for him, in offering him wonderful songs, in playing with him, in hearing him play his sublime flute beautifully, and in dancing to its melodious spiritual sound, for all eternity.
