The Lord advises us: Transcend the three attributes and modes of influence of material nature: virtue, passion, and ignorance, which are the primary focus of the original holy scriptures. Free yourself from duality, abandon all desire for material possessions and security, and be firmly united with the Supreme.

The true principle of religion is to surrender to God and to love Him, and the primary concern of humankind should be to cultivate its attachment to God, the Supreme Person, and its love for Him.

Krishna, God, the Supreme Person, encourages us with these words: When they have attained Me, the transcendentalists imbued with devotion, these noble souls, having thus risen to the highest perfection, never again return to this transient world (the material universe) where suffering reigns.

We must serve the Supreme Lord, Krishna, in a manner pleasing to Him, with purely spiritual love and devotion, refraining from mixing in motives of self-interest or intellectual speculation, and thus from seeking any material reward. This is pure service, perfect devotion, the sublime expression of love for God.

Our primary concern must be to escape the cycle of repeated births and deaths, or reincarnation, and to attain the supreme perfection of existence by living with the Supreme King, Krishna, God, in the spiritual realm. Whatever we do and whatever our occupation, our first objective must be to please Krishna, God, the Supreme Person, and always to give Him pleasure.

How should human life be organized for spiritual development?

Human life, divided into stages, should be dedicated to spiritual development.

According to spiritual principles, the first part of existence should be devoted to the development of character and spiritual qualities. The emphasis should be on the spiritual realm, not on materialism, which distances the incarnate being from existential truth.

Then, one who desires may take a wife and have children, but not in the way animals do, for indeed, we must beget children who can fulfill the mission of Krishna, God, the Supreme Person; otherwise, procreation is futile.

There are two kinds of children born to virtuous fathers: one will be raised in Krishna consciousness, or God consciousness, so as to be freed from the snares of illusory energy, akin to Satan, in this very life; and the other is a ray of light from the Sovereign Lord, appearing within noble and virtuous parents to teach the world the ultimate purpose of existence.
