When impiety reigns in a family, women become corrupted, and from their degradation arise undesirable offspring.

A healthy population is the fundamental principle of peace, prosperity, and spiritual progress in human society. The moral principles governing the organization of social classes were designed to guide the entire society toward spiritual progress by ensuring the preservation of virtue. The purity of a population depends on the chastity and fidelity of its women. Now, just as a child is easily abused, a woman is prone to corruption. For this reason, both need the protection of the elders of the family. Thus, if the chastity and devotion of women are safeguarded through various acts of piety and respect for family traditions, they will not be led into adultery and will produce virtuous offspring, capable of participating in the natural organization of social classes and spiritual divisions.

However, if this social system is not respected, frequent interaction between men and women leads to adultery, with the risk of creating an undesirable population. Through the fault of irresponsible men, tainted, unwanted children flood society, leading to wars and epidemics. The increasing number of these undesirables creates a living hell for families and for those who have destroyed their traditions. Ancestors are forgotten; the offerings of water and food to them cease.

Vedic traditions, from the Vedas, the original sacred scriptures, dictate that offerings of water and food to the family ancestors be regularly made to promote material blessings.

This food is first offered to Vishnu, and then the sanctified remains are presented to the ancestors. Indeed, the food offered first to Vishnu has the power to deliver a human being from the consequences of all their sins. It is possible that our ancestors still suffer the consequences of their sins, that they cannot even obtain a physical body and are forced to remain in their ethereal bodies, in a spiritual state. Offering them sanctified food allows them to escape the miserable conditions in which they find themselves. This service is a family tradition, and all those who do not dedicate themselves to the direct service of God are obligated to perform these rites.

The holy being, the devotee of God, has no such duty, for it is given to him, by the sole grace of his devotional acts toward Lord Krishna, to liberate thousands of ancestors.

Those who, through their irresponsible actions, break the tradition of lineage, cause the abandonment of the principles by which prosperity and harmony reign within the family and the nation.
