It is to serve Krishna, God, the Supreme Person, that we were created; this is the primary reason for our existence.
The Supreme Lord, Krishna, the Divine Sovereign Person, is by nature overflowing with joy, and He multiplies in order to increase His spiritual and absolute happiness. And we, the separate beings, already exist as minute parts of the Supreme Lord for the satisfaction of His divine senses. The living being, the soul embodied in a human, animal, or plant form, belongs to the Lord's inner energy and is therefore identical to Him, but it never equals or surpasses God, Krishna. God and other beings each possess their own individuality. Spiritual beings distinct from God can also, through the use of material energy, exert a certain creative power, but none of their creations equal or surpass those of the Lord.
Only unreasonable, insane minds claim to be One with God, thus allowing themselves to be led astray by the illusory energy that plunges them into the darkness of ignorance. In their delusion, they have no other recourse than to acknowledge the supremacy of Lord Krishna and to willingly engage in his service of love and devotion, for it is to act in this way that they were created. If they do not return to this original and natural duty, the world will know neither peace nor tranquility.
The spiritual being is but a tiny fragment of Krishna, created by the Lord to contribute to his joy. Just as an organ contributes to the harmonious functioning of the whole body but cannot enjoy itself autonomously, the being distinct from God has the sole role of being united with the Lord in a spirit of cooperation.
Hands, by bringing food to the mouth; feet, by moving the body; teeth, by chewing; eyes, by observing—all act to satisfy the stomach, the “energy center” upon which the entire organism depends. No part of the body can derive its benefits from its actions for itself. We nourish a tree by watering its roots, not its branches, and the body by nourishing the stomach.
Another example: red blood cells transport oxygen from the lungs to the tissues and, in return, collect carbon dioxide to expel it during exhalation. White blood cells, for their part, defend the body against external threats.
This same relationship exists between the Lord, creator and supreme beneficiary of all that Is, and spiritual beings, his subordinate creatures. As parts of the All that is God, the Supreme Person, we must all contribute to his joy, to his satisfaction. Only in this way will we find our own happiness.
Let us rediscover the position we held with God at the beginning of all things.
Let us rediscover our original consciousness and our original, natural position as eternal servants of Krishna, God, the Supreme Person, established in our true and eternal spiritual identity.
At the beginning of all things, when the material cosmos did not yet exist, the spiritual entities or souls, which each of us truly is, lived with Krishna, God, the Supreme Person, in his realm of knowledge, bliss, and eternity, serving him with love and devotion. They were immersed in ineffable, unending, eternal happiness.
It was in reference to this prestigious position, in the presence of his disciples and apostles, that Jesus addressed the Eternal Father in these words: “And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.”
If we want to live in the real world, the spiritual world, where Krishna, God, the Supreme Person is the only Supreme Monarch, where anxiety, anguish, fear, suffering, sadness, evil and time do not exist, where life is eternal, and where all beings who live there are eternally young, then we must absolutely regain the spiritual, natural and original position we had with God, before the material universe existed.
Upon returning to our original, natural position as eternal servants of God, we must also, quite naturally, adopt the appropriate attitude and way of life, the same way that beings living in the spiritual realm constantly manifest and offer to the Lord with immense joy.
