When the three worlds disappear beneath the waters, you will see a great boat that I will have sent before you. Then, O king, you must gather all kinds of plants and seeds and load them onto this great boat. Then, you will board it accompanied by the seven sages and surrounded by all kinds of living beings, and you and your companions will travel safely through the ocean of the flood, illuminated only by the radiance of the great sages.

Pulling the boat on which you and the sages will be, O king, I will traverse the waters of devastation until the end of the night, due to the sleep of Brahma.

In reality, this devastation did not occur during Brahma's night, but during one of his days, as it took place during the era of Chaksusa Manu (one of the fathers of humanity).

Brahma's night occurs when he goes to sleep, but during Brahma's day, there are fourteen Manus who succeed one another, including Chaksusa Manu. Thus, while it was daytime, Brahma slept for a short time, by the will of the Supreme Lord. This brief period is considered to be Brahma's night.

This devastation, which is mentioned in the Matsya Purana (sacred book), occurred during the era of Svayambhuva Manu (one of the fathers of humanity), because Agustya Muni (a learned sage) had cursed him. During the era of Kaksusa Manu, by the will of the Supreme Lord, another apocalypse occurred suddenly.

The sage Markandeya Rsi mentions it in the Vishnu Dharmottara (sacred book).

At the end of an era of a father of humanity, there is not necessarily destruction. Nevertheless, at the end of the era of Kaksusa Manu, Krishna, God, the Supreme Person, wished to show Satyavrata, through his illusory energy, the effects of devastation. The Supreme Lord disappeared immediately after instructing the king, who then began to await the time the Lord had spoken of.

After scattering the kusa grass on the earth with its points facing east, the holy king sat upon it, facing northeast, and meditated on Vishnu, the full emanation of Krishna, who had taken the form of a fish for the occasion. Then, gigantic clouds, pouring down incessant rain, swelled the ocean more and more, which began to overflow onto the land, and flooded the whole world.
