Ignorance of the facts relating to God and the truth concerning the true identity of the living being and existence leads to atheism, and atheism leads to criminality, blindness, and darkness.
That is why they are punished by the laws of material nature, and no one can go against this state of affairs, even by resorting to the good offices of various public assistance organizations and humanitarian works. If the inhabitants of the Earth do not adopt Krishna consciousness, they will experience famine and much suffering.
Suicide is a culpable, reprehensible act that should never be committed. Suicide means killing one's body prematurely. A particular body has been granted to us to enjoy and suffer for a given time, all in accordance with our self-interested activities committed in the past or our previous life.
The Lord says: You have dedicated your life and your body to My service. Therefore, your body does not belong to you, and you have no right to destroy it. I have many services to accomplish through you.
The Supreme Lord's disapproval of suicide seems evident, and thus, the person who commits suicide runs great risks. Two situations present themselves to the suicide victim; on the one hand, that of finding another body and thus realizing that their next life will be prolonged and the suffering maintained, and on the other hand, that of being deprived of a dense material body for a certain time and having to wander, helpless, in a ghost body or an ethereal body.
The situation of the ghost is particularly miserable and painful, because although it feels many desires, the disembodied soul no longer has the possibility of satisfying them through a physical body. That is why ghosts groan and lament.
In reality, the groans of the ghost are complaints, calls for help. Here we have the expression of the suffering that a soul deprived of its physical body can experience. The risk of becoming a ghost is not limited only to those who commit suicide, but to all victims of violent and sudden deaths, such as murder, but also those resulting from a fire, drowning, an accident, etc. Thus, the danger of descending into a hellish state after death is very real, and therefore we must fight against suicide and spiritual wandering.
To stop this whole process, it is enough to surrender to God, to do His divine will, and to serve Him with love and devotion. Those who act in this way live in peace, under God's protection, and experience ineffable happiness.
