The Lord advises: Surrender yourself completely to Me, and I will protect you from all dangers. You will never again experience the problems associated with birth and death. By My grace, you will know absolute peace, and you will attain My eternal and supreme abode. I grant faith and refuge to anyone who surrenders to Me and vows to serve Me forever, for such is My nature.

It is only through devotional service, and only in this way, that one can know Me as I am. And the being who, through such devotion, becomes fully conscious of My Person, can then enter My absolute kingdom.

It is only by serving Me with undivided love and devotion that one can know Me as I am, and truly see Me. Thus, and only thus, will one be able to penetrate the mystery of My Person. You can proclaim it forcefully: My devotee will never perish.

What is it that, even against his will, impels man to sin as if he were compelled to do so?

This question was asked of Lord Krishna, God, the Supreme Person, by his pure devotee, Prince Arjuna.

The Lord replies: It is lust alone. Born from contact with passion, then transformed into anger, it constitutes the devastating enemy of the world and the source of sin.

Lust, or sexual desire, is the greatest enemy of the human being.

In contact with matter, the embodied soul, which each of us truly is, readily engages in all kinds of sinful activities, often against its will. It is compelled to commit sins without having desired to do so.

It is the sexual act that perpetuates conditioned existence in this material world; that is why God advocates celibacy, but above all, continence.

The Lord warns us in these terms: What should or should not be done, demonic beings do not know. In them, there is neither purity, nor righteous conduct, nor truthfulness.

Demonic beings, who take refuge in self-conceit, pride, and insatiable lust, become prey to illusion. Fascinated by the ephemeral, they dedicate their lives to unwholesome acts.

To enjoy the senses until the very last moment, that, they believe, is the major imperative for man. Thus, their anguish knows no end. Chained by hundreds, by thousands of desires, by lust and anger, they amass riches by illicit means, to satisfy the appetite of their senses.

Confused by multiple anxieties and caught in a net of illusions, one becomes excessively attached to sense pleasure and sinks into hell.

Three doors open onto this hell: lust, anger, and greed. Let every sane person close them, for they lead the soul to its ruin.
