Death is certain for the one who is born, and birth is certain for the one who dies. Since you must fulfill your duty, you should not feel so sorry for yourself.

All created things are, in their origin, unmanifest. They manifest in their transient state, and once dissolved, they return to being unmanifest. What good is it to grieve over this?

Some see the soul, and it is an astonishing marvel to them. So too do others speak of it, and still others hear of it. There are, however, some who, even after hearing of it, cannot conceive of it.

He who dwells in the body is eternal; he cannot be killed. Therefore, you have no need to mourn anyone.

We are not the physical body in which we reside, but the soul that is within it, which enables it to live and move. Each of us is, in reality, a spiritual soul, and Krishna is the Supreme Being from whom all things emanate.

This is the beginning of spiritual education.

Each of us is an eternal spiritual soul, not the dense physical body in which we reside for just a lifetime in this material world.

The soul is actually one ten-thousandth the size of a human hair, for it is a spiritual atom. It is self-illuminating, for a radiance emanates from its spiritual body, which envelops it, giving it the appearance of a beautiful, luminous sphere of immaculate whiteness. This is why seeing it is a true marvel.

The spiritual soul alone illuminates the entire body with consciousness. Consciousness is the concrete proof of the soul's presence in the body.

Consciousness is a manifestation of the soul, the major principle, the essence of the spiritual soul, the soul's primary energy; it is the soul itself. The soul resides in the heart of every living being—celestial beings, humans, animals, and plants. It is the source of all the energies that sustain the body, whatever its form. The soul's energy is diffused throughout the body; this is consciousness. And it is through this pervasive consciousness that the soul manifests its omnipresence in the body it inhabits and keeps alive with its vital force. Consciousness is also the perception we have of ourselves, which allows us to say, “I am.”

The soul is pure consciousness expressing itself. It is the life force, the active principle that allows the body to live and move. It is the true Self, the conscious Self, and the true Ego. True spiritual memory and true intelligence are two other major principles of the soul, for they reside within it and nowhere else. It gives the body its beauty and life.
